MCCI Congratulates BJP on Landmark Victory; Outlines Industry Expectations for West Bengal

Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry (MCCI), Kolkata extends its warm congratulations to the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on its decisive and historic victory in the recently concluded Assembly elections in West Bengal.

This resounding mandate reflects the confidence of the people in the leadership of Shri Narendra Modi, Hon’ble Prime Minister of India and signals strong expectations for accelerated development, improved governance and economic transformation in the State.

As a leading industry body, MCCI is optimistic that the new Government will usher in a reform-driven growth phase that strengthens West Bengal’s position as a competitive industrial and investment destination.

The Chamber believes that the focus in the coming period should be on:

· Policy Stability & Governance: Ensuring transparent, predictable and investor-friendly policies to boost business confidence.

· Industrial Growth & Employment: Promoting heavy industry and MSMEs to generate large-scale employment opportunities.

· Incentive Framework: Introducing targeted incentives such as capital subsidies, interest subvention, electricity duty waivers and stamp duty reimbursement to attract fresh investments.

· Power Sector Reforms: Rationalizing power tariffs to improve industrial competitiveness.

· Land Reforms: Establishing transparent and efficient land acquisition mechanisms and reviewing existing land-related legislations to facilitate industrial expansion.

· Social Infrastructure: Strengthening healthcare, education and skill development to ensure inclusive and sustainable growth.

MCCI reiterates its commitment to working closely with the Government and all stakeholders to support policy advocacy, facilitate investments and contribute to the State’s economic progress.
