Indian-Flagged Ship Attacked Off Oman Coast; India Calls Incident “Completely Unacceptable”

India has strongly condemned the attack on an Indian-flagged commercial vessel off the coast of Oman, with the Ministry of External Affairs describing the drone or missile strike as “completely unacceptable.” The government confirmed that all crew members aboard the vessel are safe despite the attack.
The incident has intensified concerns over the growing risks to maritime trade routes in the Gulf region amid the widening Israel–Iran conflict. Indian officials warned against the targeting of civilian commercial shipping and stressed the importance of protecting freedom of navigation and international maritime commerce.
The attack occurred near one of the world’s most strategically important shipping corridors linked to the Strait of Hormuz, through which a major share of global oil and trade cargo passes. The Indian government has urged restraint and called for greater security for merchant vessels operating in the region.
The latest strike adds to rising maritime tensions in West Asia, where previous attacks on vessels linked to regional conflict have already disrupted commercial shipping and endangered civilian crews.
