According to police sources, the minor girl, originally from Barashol village under Gopiballavpur Police Station jurisdiction, went missing on February 1, 2023, at the age of 16. Despite an exhaustive search by her family, she could not be found, leading them to file a formal complaint on April 1, 2023. Acting swiftly, the police registered a case and commenced a thorough probe into her disappearance.

During the investigation, authorities traced the girl’s movements revealing that she had traveled to Karnataka where she met and subsequently married a young man from Bhamal village in the Beliyabera Police Station area of Jhargram district. On Tuesday, led by Officer-in-Charge Ajay Kumar Singh and the investigating officer, the Gopiballavpur Police promptly located the young woman upon receiving the intelligence. She was brought safely to the police station and produced before the Jhargram Court on Wednesday. Following all legal procedures, she was handed over to her family.
