The Defence Research and Development Organisation (DRDO) has successfully completed development trials of the Unmanned Aerial Vehicle Launched Precision Guided Missile (ULPGM)-V3 in both Air-to-Ground and Air-to-Air modes at its test range near Kurnool, Andhra Pradesh.
The trials were conducted using an advanced Ground Control System capable of automating launch and operational readiness. The missile was integrated with UAVs developed by Newspace Research and Technologies, Bengaluru.
DRDO partnered with Bharat Dynamics Limited and Adani Defence Systems & Technologies Limited for missile development and production. The ULPGM-V3 was developed by Research Centre Imarat, Hyderabad, along with DRDL, TBRL, and HEMRL laboratories.
Officials stated that the trials validated a fully indigenous supply chain ready for mass production under the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. Defence Minister Rajnath Singh described the achievement as a strategic milestone for India’s defence self-reliance.
The missile is designed for anti-tank operations as well as engaging drones, helicopters, and airborne targets.
