Iran has sharply condemned recent United States airstrikes near the southern port city of Bandar Abbas, accusing Washington of violating international law and escalating instability in the Gulf region. The strong reaction from Tehran comes amid renewed tensions surrounding the Strait of Hormuz and controversial remarks made by US President Donald Trump regarding Oman.
According to reports, the United States carried out strikes targeting what American officials described as Iranian military infrastructure and drone facilities near Bandar Abbas. Washington claimed the operation was aimed at protecting maritime security and ensuring stability in the strategically important Strait of Hormuz, through which a significant portion of global oil shipments pass every day.
Iranian authorities denounced the attacks as an unlawful act of aggression and a breach of national sovereignty. Tehran stated that the strikes threatened regional peace and could undermine ongoing diplomatic efforts aimed at reducing tensions in the Middle East. Officials warned that continued military action by the United States would only deepen instability across the Gulf region.
The situation intensified further after Trump reportedly issued strong warnings against Oman, allegedly threatening severe consequences if the Gulf nation cooperated with Iran regarding arrangements linked to the Strait of Hormuz. The comments triggered criticism from Iranian leaders, who accused the US administration of intimidation and irresponsible diplomacy.
Oman, which has historically acted as a mediator between Tehran and Washington during periods of conflict, has not officially responded to the reported remarks. However, diplomatic observers noted that the latest developments could complicate regional negotiations and increase geopolitical uncertainty.
The Strait of Hormuz remains one of the world’s most sensitive maritime corridors, carrying nearly one-fifth of global oil supplies. Any escalation in the region is closely monitored by international markets due to its potential impact on global energy prices and shipping security. Despite ongoing international efforts to maintain stability, the exchange of military action and political rhetoric has raised concerns about renewed volatility in the region.
