Power Supply Unit And CCTV Cameras Stolen; Bid To Remove AC Outdoor Unit Detected In Kharagpur

Kharagpur, West Bengal : A case of theft has been reported from a shop located in Shimla Center at Gole Bazar in Kharagpur, where unidentified miscreants allegedly stole the power supply unit and two CCTV cameras from the premises during the night. An attempt was also reportedly made to steal the outdoor unit of an air conditioner installed at the shop.

The incident came to light in the morning when Anthony Skirville, proprietor of a shop named Kanchi Mahal, opened the establishment and discovered signs of tampering. According to the complaint, the electrical wires of the shop had been cut and the entire power supply unit was found missing. Two CCTV cameras installed on the premises were also allegedly stolen.

The shop owner further stated that the miscreants had also tried to dismantle the outdoor unit of the air conditioner. During inspection, several nuts and bolts of the unit were found loosened, suggesting an unsuccessful attempt to remove it.

The total value of the stolen items is estimated to be around Rs 10 lakh, according to the complainant.
Following the incident, Skirville lodged a written complaint with the Kharagpur Town Police Station, urging the authorities to conduct a thorough investigation, identify those responsible, and recover the stolen property.

Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the matter. As part of the probe, CCTV footage from nearby locations is being examined to gather leads and establish the identity of the culprits.
