Rajnath Singh Approves Enhanced Financial Powers for Field Commanders

Raksha Mantri Rajnath Singh has approved a significant enhancement of financial powers for Field Commanders, aimed at strengthening the operational preparedness and modernization of the Armed Forces.
Under the new measures, procurement ceilings have been increased two-fold, while financial powers related to indigenisation initiatives and research & development projects have been doubled. The reforms are designed to enable faster decision-making, streamline procurement processes, and improve the military’s ability to address operational requirements efficiently.
The Ministry of Defence stated that the enhanced powers will accelerate capability development, promote greater self-reliance in defence production, and provide a stronger impetus to the Aatmanirbhar Bharat initiative. The move is expected to empower field formations with greater flexibility while reducing procedural delays in acquiring critical equipment and technologies.
Defence officials believe the decision will significantly enhance operational readiness and support the long-term modernization goals of the Indian Armed Forces.
