Actor Shahid Kapoor has opened up about the growing influence of paid public relations and manufactured narratives in the entertainment industry, stressing the importance of authenticity over carefully curated public images.
Ahead of the release of Cocktail 2, Shahid spoke candidly about what he described as the “fake image-building” culture prevalent in Bollywood. He said he prefers not to believe rumours or opinions passed on by others unless he has witnessed situations firsthand. According to the actor, relying too heavily on hearsay can make people vulnerable to manipulation.
Shahid noted that celebrities often occupy influential positions, making it easier for others to shape their perceptions for personal or professional gain. To avoid this, he said he chooses to approach information with caution and maintain an independent perspective. He added that this mindset has helped him navigate the highs and lows of the film industry. (Moneycontrol)
