‘Cocktail 2’ Secures Adult Rating Ahead of Theatrical Release
News Mania Desk/ Piyal Chatterjee/ 18th June 2026

The much-anticipated Bollywood film Cocktail 2 has received an ‘A’ (Adults Only) certificate from the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC) ahead of its theatrical release on June 19, adding to the excitement surrounding the romantic drama. Starring Shahid Kapoor, Kriti Sanon and Rashmika Mandanna, the film is expected to appeal to mature audiences with its contemporary take on relationships and personal choices.
Directed by Homi Adajania, Cocktail 2 is being positioned as a spiritual successor to the 2012 hit Cocktail. While the sequel features an entirely new cast and storyline, it retains the emotional complexity, romance and modern themes that made the original film a popular success among audiences.
According to reports, the CBFC cleared the film without requiring any visual cuts, allowing the makers to retain all major scenes as originally intended. The board, however, suggested a few minor modifications to certain dialogues and subtitles before granting certification. These changes were largely technical in nature and did not affect the film’s narrative or overall presentation.
The certification marks a notable milestone for actress Kriti Sanon, as it is reportedly the first film in her career to receive an adults-only rating. For Rashmika Mandanna, it becomes the second such project following her role in the blockbuster Animal. Shahid Kapoor, meanwhile, continues to explore mature and unconventional characters with the latest addition to his filmography.
Industry analysts believe the adult certification could help position the film as a bold and modern relationship drama, attracting urban audiences seeking more mature storytelling. With advance bookings underway and strong interest from fans, expectations are high for Cocktail 2 as it prepares to hit cinema screens across the country.
The film’s box-office performance will now be closely watched when it opens in theatres on June 19.
