Kharagpur Division Removes Unauthorized Structures Near Gokulpur Station Under “Operation Bhoomi”

Kharagpur, West Bengal : As part of the ongoing “Operation Bhoomi” initiative aimed at protecting railway land from encroachment, Kharagpur Division of South Eastern Railway conducted an encroachment removal drive near Gokulpur Railway Station on 24 June 2026.
The action was undertaken based on a requisition received from SSE/Works/Line/Kharagpur regarding the removal of unauthorized permanent structures constructed on railway land.
During the drive, six newly constructed pucca structures encroaching upon railway property near Gokulpur Railway Station were successfully dismantled by the Engineering Department.
The operation was carried out with adequate security arrangements and assistance from officers and staff of RPF Post/Midnapore, under the supervision of the Post Commander, RPF/Midnapore.
Personnel from Sadatpur Police Outpost also provided necessary support during the operation. Owing to the coordinated efforts of the Railway Administration, RPF, and local police authorities, the encroachment removal drive was completed peacefully and without any untoward incident.

“Operation Bhoomi” is a focused initiative of Indian Railways to safeguard railway land from unauthorized occupation and ensure the availability of land for operational, safety, and developmental requirements. Kharagpur Division continues to take proactive measures to protect railway assets and maintain a safe and obstruction-free railway environment.
The Railway Administration has appealed to the public to refrain from encroaching upon railway land and to extend their cooperation in preserving railway property for the benefit of the travelling public and future infrastructure development.
