Pakistani Spy with ISI Links Arrested in West Bengal by Special Task Force

Kolkata: The West Bengal Special Task Force (STF) has arrested a suspected Pakistani spy identified as Rana Rauf, accused of gathering sensitive information related to the Army, Border Security Force (BSF), and Railways.

Rauf, a resident of Faisalabad, Pakistan, is believed to have been directly recruited by the Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI). He reportedly entered India illegally after residing in Nepal since 2012. Investigators say he crossed the border secretly and tried to create a permanent identity in Kolkata.

Using forged Indian documents under the name Wahf, Rauf obtained fake identity papers listing a false address in Topsia, Kolkata. These fraudulent documents have been seized by authorities.

Officials revealed that Rauf was tasked with collecting intelligence on the Eastern Command of the Indian Army based in Kolkata, BSF movements, and Railway infrastructure and operations. There are also ongoing probes into whether he attempted to recruit Indian nationals living in Nepal for espionage activities.

STF has arrested another individual believed to be linked to Rauf. The investigation is examining this person’s role and the extent of the spy network.

Sources confirm that Rauf was reporting directly to ISI handlers and had plans to travel from India to Pakistan via Bangladesh. Authorities continue to track his movements between Nepal and India as they further investigate the case.
