Rashmi Group Provides ₹5.25 Lakh CSR Support to Swimmer Afrin Jabi In Catalina Channel Expedition 2026

Kharagpur: A financial assistance of ₹5.25 lakh from Rashmi Group for her upcoming Catalina Channel swimming expedition.

The cheque was handed over to Afrin by West Medinipur Superintendent of Police Papia Sultana and Rashmi Group Executive Director Bhaskar Chowdhury at a ceremony held on Saturday afternoon at Sangam Conference Hall on the premises of the District Superintendent of Police’s office.

The event was attended by senior police officials and senior executives of Rashmi Group.

Afrin will represent India at the Catalina Channel Expedition 2026, an international open-water swimming event. The latest assistance was provided under Rashmi Group’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative through its Odisha Metallics Private Limited (Unit-1).

Earlier, the group had provided Afrin with ₹5 lakh during a programme held at the District Magistrate’s office. With the latest contribution, Rashmi Group’s total financial support for Afrin’s expedition has reached ₹10.25 lakh.

Speaking at the event, Bhaskar Chowdhury said, “Rashmi Group is always committed to supporting athletes who bring glory to the nation. We sincerely thank the Superintendent of Police for giving us the opportunity to support Afrin.”

District Superintendent of Police Papia Sultana praised the initiative and said that athletes are among the country’s greatest assets. She stressed that society must come forward to support their talent and help them achieve success. She also wished Afrin success in her international campaign.

Afrin thanked Rashmi Group for its assistance. Her father, who was present at the ceremony, said the financial support would cover a significant part of the expenses involved in the expedition.

Rashmi Group officials said the company would continue its various fields, through CSR activities in sports, education and social welfare the future.
