Swatantra Bharadwaj Flees Bulandshahr as Delhi Police Move to Arrest Him Over CJP Protest Assault

Swatantra Bharadwaj, who has been accused of assaulting the father of a student protester during a demonstration organised by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP) at Jantar Mantar, reportedly fled from Bulandshahr in Uttar Pradesh shortly before a Delhi Police team arrived to apprehend him.

According to police sources, Bharadwaj left Naithla village in Bulandshahr on a Bullet motorcycle and headed towards Khurja. The controversy escalated after a video and podcast appearance involving Bharadwaj circulated on social media. In the footage, he allegedly spoke about the assault and claimed that he had avoided jail despite his involvement. His remarks generated widespread criticism and prompted the CJP to intensify its campaign for his arrest.

CJP representatives subsequently approached the Parliament Street police station and demanded immediate action. The organisation also questioned the sections initially applied in the case and sought stricter provisions, including consideration of charges relating to grievous injury and attempt to murder.

Delhi Police has rejected allegations that political influence prevented action against Bharadwaj. Officials said a case had been registered on the basis of Sanjay Kumar’s complaint and that Bharadwaj and another accused, Suraj Kumar, had been detained and questioned after the incident. Police maintained that the investigation was being conducted according to established legal procedures and that a chargesheet would be filed before the competent court.

Police have also disputed some of the claims surrounding the severity of Sanjay Kumar’s injuries. According to the force, medical examination at Ram Manohar Lohia Hospital did not support claims of a skull fracture. Police said the injury was caused during a scuffle and involved a metal bracelet, or kada, worn by one of the participants.
