Celebrating the day of declaration of Kolkata as the capital of India

Adarsh Hindi High School (Khidirpur), today 20 October was observed as a historic day in the school premises.  On this day in 1772, Kolkata was made the capital of India by the Governor General Warren Hastings.  From this time till 1912, Kolkata remained the capital of British India.  Along with this, today is a day for us Indians to be driven with determination and new energy.  On 20 October 1962, contrary to the principles of our peaceful co-existence and live and let live, the neighbouring country of China attacked.  Although we could not get success even after the brave soldiers put up a strong fight. 

During the program, Major Dr. B. B. Singh, the headmaster of the school, also mentioned about the formation of Azad Hind government by Netaji in Burma on 21st October and he took the oath of independence of India by becoming the first Prime Minister.  On the said occasion, the teachers of the school, Mr. Arun Prasad Singh, Mr. Mohammad Shamshad, Ajay Kumar Jha, Girish Singh etc. also did the work of awakening new consciousness among the students.
