A 50-year-old Karnataka lady who had lost contact with her family 25 years ago was found in Himachal Pradesh’s Mandi. According to authorities, Sakamma, who had been residing in an old age facility, will rejoin her family and travel to her native state on Wednesday.
Sakamma, a resident of Dananayakanakere village in Karnataka’s Ballari district, attended a relative’s wedding in Hosapete with her children 25 years ago. However, she unintentionally boarded a train to Chandigarh and was forced to live in harsh conditions in many northern Indian regions.
She eventually found safety at an old age home in Mandi. Sakamma’s family filed a missing person report and even gave her last rites after she had been gone for years. Her relationship was established after a young IPS officer visited the old age facility and discovered the woman speaking Kannada.
After hearing Sakamma’s account, the officer called Karnataka’s social welfare department. Authorities made touch with the family, and she will return home today.
