According To A Study, Fetuses Smile At Carrots But Grimace At Kale

A fetus may be more likely to tolerate or appreciate a vegetable like kale later in life if it is regularly exposed to it while in the womb, according to researchers.

According to a recent study published this week, fetuses exhibit a greater cry-face response when their mother consumes kale and a greater laughter-face reaction when their mother consumes carrots.

They examined the sound fetuses of about 100 English women. The mothers were given capsules containing powdered versions of the two diets by the researchers. 35 women were assigned to an experimental group that took a capsule containing organic kale, 35 to a group that took a capsule containing carrots, and 30 to a control group that did not get any withering treatment.

The majority of the fetuses exposed to the carrot looked to smile, while those exposed to the kale appeared to frown around 20 minutes later, according to 4D ultrasound scans. On the other hand, the response was the same in the control group.

Based on the study’s findings, the researchers are now speculating that a baby’s frequent exposure to various flavors during pregnancy may have a role in the development of their post-birth food preferences. According to researchers, mothers who maintain a healthy diet while pregnant may also notice that their children are less picky eaters. The study’s authors pointed out that further investigation is required before it can be said with certainty whether or not fetuses are capable of feeling emotions and having preferences.
