Assam CM Conducts Midnight Inspection of Longest Flyover Set to Open

Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma recently undertook a midnight survey of the state’s longest flyover, which is slated to be opened to the public in the upcoming week. On the night of August 23rd and 24th, Sarma visited the Maligaon area of Guwahati, where the final stages of the flyover’s construction are underway.

Accompanied by a team of top government officials and some of his cabinet colleagues, the Chief Minister inspected the site. The inauguration of the flyover is scheduled for August 30th. Sharing a video of his midnight inspection on Twitter, Sarma highlighted the distinctive features of the new flyover.

Set to span an impressive 833 meters, this railway flyover is noteworthy not only for its length but also for its unique design. It holds the distinction of being the first of its kind in the entire Northeast region. What sets it apart is the incorporation of two overpasses, in addition to a sports complex situated beneath it.

The sports complex, crafted by a local contractor and dedicated to the Jorhat Badminton Association, stands as a prime example of maximizing urban space utilization. The complex is equipped with ample lighting and seating arrangements to foster the growth of young athletes. Portraits of renowned athletes adorn the pillars and walls, serving as a source of inspiration for budding talents.

Once operational, this flyover will mark the seventh road flyover in Guwahati, signifying the city’s continued efforts to enhance its infrastructure and connectivity. The unique blend of efficient urban space utilization and sporting amenities illustrates the innovative approach adopted in this project. As the opening day draws near, anticipation builds regarding the positive impact this modern infrastructure will have on the local community and transportation landscape.
