Bobby Chakraborty Wins Hearts And Mind Of Soldiers From Calcutta Public School, Kalikapur, Through Aac 407
Bobby Chakraborty, a popular actor and teacher of Method Acting by profession, has been a prolific crusader and social activist fighting against all kinds of addiction and harmful social trends among the youth, with his award winning, globally acclaimed, free of cost awareness program titled ‘I AM THE KING OF MY MIND’, for more than a decade.
Recently he completed his 407th AAC (Anti Addiction Campaign) at Calcutta Public School, Kalikapur,on September 15th,which was his 2nd session in this school too.
The tremendously popular and powerful interactive session at CPS met with a huge support, applause, love and energetic participation from the Principal Mrs. Proma Das, the Secretary Dr. Tathagata Das, the super efficient team of respected Teachers, the students of Class 8-10, who were the audience and even their parents, post the session.
Here’s what Bobby shared about his experience of AAC 407:-
“I share a long and strong relationship with CPS (all the branches) and the main reason is ofcourse The Founder Principal Proma Ma’am, who initiated this campaign in her school, many years back and in other branches too. The next reason for me always finding myself at home here, would be her super efficient team of teachers and non teaching staffs , who have always worked in unison to make my sessions here a superhit one. Among all the teachers I would want to specifically name Chandreyee Dasgupta Ma’am, who has always coordinated the sessions, with perfection and has always overwhelmed me with her grace ,candour and personality. Hence AAC 407 was nothing different, rather the bar was raised extremely high for me to win the hearts and mind of my dear ‘soldiers’ and guide them towards light.
The session was given a great start by Chandreyee Ma’am along with a warm felicitation ceremony by Proma Ma’am and herself. The official photographer of the session was soldier Ananya Arora from Class 9. I am extremely impressed with Ananya’s manners, obedience, sense of responsibility and hardwork. The technical help was given by soldier Ayush at the projector. The adda met with some powerful interactions on the burning issues of smoking, alcoholism, substance abuse and ofcourse smart phone addiction along with the darkness it is bringing in the lives of these young minds, through pornography, online gambling, mad rush to be ‘viewed’ and ‘followed’ online at ‘any cost’ of self respect, dangers of falling prey to child predators all over the internet etc. I always put myself as an example infront of the children and hit them hard with the fact that I don’t need to smoke, booze, do drugs, use abusive language, use obscenity or vulgarity to be ‘cool’, ‘fashionable’ or ‘acceptable’. As a necessity, out of my own mishap in my family due to addiction, I taught them the formula of life which is HCF(Health-Career-Family) and the mantra being ‘I am the king of my mind’. Controlling one’s mind is the trick to remain healthy, both physically and mentally and I teach them that trick to do so.
Since 2020 and post Covid era, one major invasion in our daily lives has been the smart phones and the dark side of internet! The children have been the most affected, leading to various behavioral problems in them, problems with their focus on studies and a serious damage to their core values and morality, with their uncontrolled exposure to illicit, prohibited and obscene content online.
The ceremonial title of ‘The 1st Soldier’ went to Arpan and ‘The Trendsetter’ went to Sampriti. Among the other soldiers with whom I loved interacting were Aryan, Mridul, Sumit, Sreoshi, Anisha, Sreya, Ranabir, Wrichik, Abhrajit,Rishav,Yashraj and Amit. The surprise contest at the end had Kushal, Sampriti and Arini as the winners, who were given special HCF t-shirts, other AAC prizes and community service certificates.
I feel these children are my own. I feel they are my family and at the end of the session when I get that same feeling back I am overjoyed! For instance after AAC 407 ended and the soldiers were leaving the auditorium, one of them came up and put up an earnest request to come with him to his house nearby, because he said he felt like I was his family member! I felt extremely happy with this bond formed and promised to come to his house later on. Last but not least the day ended with exquisite Thai cuisine from the school canteen, which myself and Abhiniti, the prospective social media consultant of CPS had together, with Sandipa Ma’am and Esita Ma’am, The Headmistress, looking after everything at the lunch table, to our comfort.”
