CM Mamata Banerjee Won’t Allow CAA In West Bengal

Mamata Banerjee, the chief minister of Bengal, stated on November 9 that she would not permit the CAA to be implemented in the state “as long as I am alive.” After giving the Matua community in Bongaon assurances that they will receive citizenship under the CAA, Union parliamentary minister Arun Ram Meghwal made her announcement the following day.

Speaking to a crowd, Banerjee denounced the BJP, saying that it was playing politics with the Matuas, Rajbanshis, and other Hills communities in the run-up to the polls. She continued, “They play politics with the Matuas on the CAA issue ahead of the elections and try to divide Bengal, playing on the sentiments of the Rajbanshis and the Hills people, although most of them do not want it. The BJP has given you only a pack of lies.”

The Trinamool is prepared to introduce a resolution opposing CAA in the upcoming session of the Bengal assembly, which will begin on November 18, according to sources.

Banerjee claimed that Bengali immigrants who had fled Bangladesh were treated equally to citizens. “Without your votes, neither I nor Narendra Modi could have been prime minister or become chief minister. If neither of us is a citizen, then neither am I “She spoke.

The CM decided to make the announcement that her government was providing free-hold land to refugees in order to give them an address and establish their right to property in Nadia, which has a sizable refugee population, and Matuas, who had emigrated from Bangladesh.
