Dhwani organized a two – day symposium ‘Vivridh’ fighting back with Mental Health

The belief that engagement in the performing arts can aid mental health recovery is an idea that needs to penetrate convincingly into the consciousness of our society. It is in this background that Dhwani proposes to organise a two – day symposium ‘Vivridh’ which aims to create a positive, collaborative, and sustainable platform for all like-minded stakeholders to come together in creating mental wellness through performing arts. Vivridh will ensure a confluence of mental health experts, renowned educators, students and parents to deliberate on the theme.
The event has comprised of panel discussions, engagement sessions and an open discussion forum.
The program was welcomed by Sadhna Srivastava followed by film on Rishika Chakraborty suffering from BPD which gave a fact that dance and other art forms can cure mental health issues.

The Opening Speaker was Kanchan Rai – Founder of Let us Talk who spoke on various important features and possibilities of mental health conditions and precautionary methods to come out of it followed by series of Panel Discussion.

The first Topic was on – Psychology of Mental Health Challenges – Symptoms & Identification where the Speakers were Dr. Sen, Sandra Jose, Sukarma Dawar and Moderator Dr. Shalini Sen

The Second topic was on Medical Treatment where the Speakers were Dr. S. A. Basir, Dr. Aparna Nayyar and Moderator was Sushmita Ghosh

The third topic was on Role of Society & Media where the Speakers were Mr. Ratnajyoti Dutta, Maneesha Sharma And Moderator – Avik Chattopadhyay

The Last Topic was on Mental Wellness through Dance where the Speakers were Navtej Singh Johar, Tripura Kashyap, Alokananda Roy and Moderator was Sushmita Ghosh

Sonal Mansingh the Indian classical dancer and Guru Bharatanatyam and Odissi dancing style ,Member of parliament, Rajya Sabha graced the Occasion with her valuable concern on Mental health and encouraged everyone to fight back with it sharing her life story and how she overcome the crisis.
All panel discussion were so vivid and elaborate parameters to understand the cause and cure by education about a specific mental health condition, social skills ,acceptance of the illness, setting boundaries, developing self-worth and confidence, overcoming fear, dealing with anger issues, learn to understand and manage the feelings, talk to someone you trust for support, be aware of using drugs and/or alcohol to cope with difficult feelings. Dancing and other movements allow a person to express themselves and let loose. When a person feels free, the body releases happy hormones like dopamine. This hormone helps lift a person’s mood and alleviate the symptoms of anxiety and depression.

Performance by Rishika Chakraborty ,it paved the way for sufferer to accept that dance are innumerable, dancing benefits are not simply limited to reducing depression and anxiety. Dance is an amazing activity for developing confidence as well as cognitive and communication skills.
The two day Symposium was concluded by a performance of Dhwani Repertory – The Hero in Shades and a thanking note from Guru Vaswati Misra the inspiration, Composer, pillar ,Director and curator of this Event.
