Dilli Sreehatta Sammilani’s Bijoya Sammelan was held with much fanfare and gaiety
NEW DELHI – Like every year, the Bijoya Sammelan of Delhi’s Sreehatta Sammilani was held on Sunday 12th November 2023 with much fanfare and gaiety at the NDMC Community Centre at Bengali Market.
The day-long program begins with ‘Mishti Mukha’. Members from different parts of Noida, Faridabad, Gurugram, Ghaziabad, Hisar, Jaipur and Delhi attended the venue defying pollution. The festival was formally inaugurated by lighting the lamp by President Prithwish Chakraborty, General Secretary Keshab Ranjan Misra, Treasurer Tapan Chakraborty and other dignitaries present.
At the beginning of the meeting, Sammilani’s former General Secretary Jaishankar Bhattacharya welcomed all present at the programme and remembered the founding members of Sammilani.
He advised the current members to move forward with their inspiration. President Prithwish Chakraborty wished everyone a Happy Bijoya and thanked all the dignitaries for attending the meeting.
Chakraborty termed the untimely passing away of two Sammilani’s towering personalities Dr. Nabojit Talukder and Jaideep Kar last year as an irreparable loss to the society. He mentioned the practical need to connect members through the association’s new website and Facebook page.
General Secretary Misra, Treasurer Chakraborty wished everyone a Happy Bijoya and urged everyone to come forward for the sake of the community at large. The members present shared suggestions for the progress of the organisation.
Several persons were felicitated at the programme for their accomplishments. They included Ram Komal Choudhury, Trishit Gupta, Smita Dev, Satyajit Roy and Sumedha Dutta. The program was conducted by Ajitesh Dutta.
After the cultural program, the members voluntarily participated in the open stage. The venue was full of dancing and singing. Apart from the cultural program, there was a ‘Sit and Draw’ competition for the kids and various games and competitions for the young and old.
Prizes were distributed to the winners of the competition courtesy of Chitkara University.
With the help of members, winter clothes were collected for the needy people for distribution.
The total number of people attending the programme was 235. With the heart warming get together everyone kept them relaxed from the busy schedule life of this era.
