Eva Longoria, renowned for her role as Gabby Solis on “Desperate Housewives,” recently spoke out about the disparities in Hollywood, dismissing the industry’s perception as progressive. In an interview with Grazia magazine, the 49-year-old actress highlighted the ongoing gender inequity within the entertainment sector.

Contrary to the belief that Hollywood is a liberal and forward-thinking industry, Longoria asserted that gender equity remains elusive. She emphasized the diminishing presence of female directors and Latino actors on screen, suggesting a regression rather than progress over the past few years.

Despite her own achievements, including her directorial debut with the film “Flamin’ Hot” and co-founding the content studio Hyphenate Media Group, Longoria acknowledged the systemic barriers women face in Hollywood. She expressed frustration over the unequal opportunities for women compared to their male counterparts, stressing the influential role of storytelling in shaping cultural norms and policies.

Longoria’s latest project, the Apple TV+ series “Land Of Women,” premiered in New York City on Thursday. During her press tour for the series, she reminisced about her time on “Desperate Housewives” and maintained close relationships with former castmates like Felicity Huffman and Marcia Cross.

Reflecting on past controversies surrounding the show, Longoria recalled how rumors and conflicts among the cast were exaggerated in the media, becoming a subject of satire even on “Saturday Night Live.” Despite the challenges, she remains focused on using her platform to advocate for inclusivity and gender equality in the industry.

“Land Of Women,” a comedy drama thriller, follows a woman forced to flee to Spain with her mother and daughter after her husband’s financial scandals unravel. The series features a diverse cast including Carmen Maura, Santiago Cabrera, Gloria Muñoz, and Victoria Bazua.

At the glamorous premiere event held at The Whitby Hotel, Longoria dazzled in a sleek, strapless black satin dress adorned with floral embellishments. Her presence at the premiere underscored her commitment to projects that amplify diverse voices and narratives.

As Longoria continues to champion for change within Hollywood, “Land Of Women” stands as a testament to her dedication to challenging industry norms and promoting inclusive storytelling. The series is set to premiere on Apple TV+ on June 26, promising audiences a compelling exploration of resilience and family dynamics against a backdrop of intrigue and suspense.
