It’s time for men to…: US first lady Jill Biden on women’s rights
Jill Biden: “We need more men to hold each other accountable when women are being hurt or being left behind,” Jill Biden said.
At a Women’s History Month event, US First lady Jill Biden called on men to step up and fight to protect women’s rights. Speaking ahead of her husband Joe Biden and US Vice President Kamala Harris, Jill Biden said that she lamented the place that women find themselves in, adding that these are “battles that we thought we had won a long time ago.” “We need more men to hold each other accountable when women are being hurt or being left behind,” Jill Biden said.”The fight for women’s equality should have an end,” the first lady added.
This comes as US Supreme Court declared last June that states can ban abortion following which many Republican-controlled states across the country have rolled out laws that shorten the period for women to get abortion. Some states have also restricted abortion access for women.
Joe Biden in his remarks said that his administration is very much focused on improving the economic status of women, saying that all pressing issues that the US faces right now from public safety to public health are directly related to women’s economic security.
