Kalajyoti Mahotsav 2023 in collaboration with The Ministry of Culture, Government of India.

24th MARCH, 2023 at 6.30Pm  velvet pink curtains opened to Kalajyoti Mahotsav 2023 in collaboration with The Ministry of Culture, Government of India. Decorated with ethnicity , the stage reminded of a traditional Mandap with Holy essence.

Kalamandap – The Ethnic Theater was inaugurated by the executive members of Kalajyoti headed by the founder director and Guru of Odissi Dance Nrutyashri Monalisa Ghosh. Cradled by greenery and flowers, the Mandapa and the auditorium one immediately feels the deep harmony between art and nature.

On behalf of the executive members of Kalajyotisenior Anchor Sri Nimai Mondal extended hearty welcome to an Indian Cultural festival which is the result of huge and sincere effort by Founder Director Guru Monalisa Ghosh and Executive Members Smt. Sarbari Das, Sri Amit Biswas and Sri Indraneel Das. An unique concept of building this Ethnic Theatre – Kalamandap , amidst bounty of Nature, like a traditional Asram.

President Kalajyoti Smt. Sarbari Das and founder director and Guru Monalisa Ghosh Felicitated Zonal Director ICCR, Ms. Minakshi Mishra and the Lamp lighting ceremony was performed in a devoted way with offering flowers to Lord Jagannath. Guru Monalisa Ghosh has engaged herself  in philanthropic activities globally , since decades. The Mahotsav began with a heart touching presentation by specially abled children from Sahaj Path , guided by their mentor Smt. Sumana Dutta Gupta and Suvojit Dutta. The presence on stage amongst audience was so important for them and their parents.Presentations by talented young performers included SRIJANI BISWAS ,MRITTIKA Dhar and  RITWIKA Dutta, Smriti Majumdar, Rachana Kar in Gaudiya Nritya, as well as she supported as an anchor and web designer.

20 Disciples of Guru Monalisa Ghosh , groomed in Kalajyoti – presented Shiva PanchakshraStotra , a dynamic choreography of Monalisa Ghosh presented with apt energy and grace.

Veteran Bharatnatyam exponent and Guru Sri Rahul Dev Mondal and AnasuaSur Mondal stole the heart of audience in a Duet Bharatnatyam Recital.

Sangeet is complete with the union of Nritya, Badya and Geet.HenceKalajyoti introducedClassical Vocal performance for the first time presented melodiously by Suman Mukherjee.

Kalajyoti Mahotsav 2023 was honoured by the  soul stirring trio presentation by Pandit Indrajit Basu, IPS, in Flute, Pandit Amlan Haldar in Violin, and Pandit Subrata Gupta in Tabla.

25TH MARCH at 6.30pm was the continuation of the Mahotsav 2023 , the second Day.

The evening began with felicitation of the President of Surnandan Bharti, Sri Riteish Ranjan Chakrabarty, a dedicated personality in the field of promoting and propagating Indian Traditional Culture by the the executive members of Kalajyoti including Guru Monalisa Ghosh. Sri Chakrabarty surprised the audience by presenting a book Edited by him – Stories of Refulgent Luminaries – where Guru Monalisa Ghosh featured. The outstanding achievement of this Mahotsav was that young talents came from far and wide with their parents and familes for performance.

Tanwee Bhowmik presented Odissi Dance travelling from Jalpaiguri, North Bengal.

 Sumana Kandar presented a captivating  Bharatnatyam recital. TAPASH GHOSH from Falakata, North Bengal presented a semi Classical recital.

SaveriPallabi in Odissi style was presented by Kalajyoti’s senior Ensemble –  Suvojit Dutta, TanusreeMullik and Atasi Biswas.

A big applause was sounded for Swetha and Shivani and their Parents for coming all the way from Hyderabad to present their talent at the Kalajyoti Mahotsav an example of pure respect and love for Indian Classical Dance and Music. They presented A semi classical Dance  portraying  the  divine love of Lord Krishna with goddess Radha  famously known as the Raas Leela.The seniormost exponent of the evening was Sri Arrghha  Chatterjee in Odissi recital. Audience highly appreciated his Durga – a composition by Padmavibhushan Guru Kelucharan Mahapatra.

The vivacious and brilliant presentation of Dance Drama JatayuMoksh by Kalajyoti ensemble, choreographed by Guru Monalisa Ghosh remained the star of the evening.

26TH MARCH – the concluding day extended a warm  welcome to PRAPTI BASU in Kathak,

.VIDISHA BASUMALLIK in Odissi travelled from Bangalore ,Shivani  Satyanarayana in  Bharatanatyam, Anindita Ghosh  in Odissi Dance, Jayati Basu in Odissi ,SUBHOSREE ROY in Odissi,  Sthayi Batu  presented by the prarambhik group of Kalajyoti. They are being groomed under Guru Monalisa Ghosh. Kalajyoti disciples were

Sannidhya, Oishani, Rajanya, Riyanshi, Purbita ,Aditi, Aradhya, Ayushi, Anshika, Drishya, sridarshini, snehal, simantini, SrishtyMahadani, Simran , Rupsa, Srishty Nandi , Anasuya,  Somsuvro, Akash, Tanusree, Atasi, Suvojit, Afrina, Sanchita

A scintilating Kathak recital by Guru Kushal Bhattacharya and ensemble was performed amongst huge applaud followed by a sensitive abhinaya by Guru Kushal Bhattacharya alone.

 The stage was  set for melodious vocal and exciting Folk and Ethnic songs –

SWETA Satyanarayana  presented a  Nazrul Geeti Shyamasangeet in Raag Bhupali.

A soul-stirring song expressing love & devotion to Maa kali.

Veteran Folk and ethnic Singers duo Sri Amit Guha supported by his brother Sri Alok Guha are a renowned name in the field of Loko Sangeet in India. The melody, rhythm and excitement of Lokgeet ended the Mahotsav 2023 with an intense feeling of joy as audience and dancers all set their foot in movement.

While renowned theatre halls in the city are craving for audience, it is a great achievement by Guru Monalisa Ghosh and Team Kalajyoti to present houseful evenings. The grand success is the decentralisation of important Festivals and Mahotsav , providing opportunity to the audience and Indian Kala rasik of this part of Peri urban area in South 24 Parganas , Rajpur.

All performers were presented with mementoes by the guest of honors.
