Knowledge Series on STARTUP -Exploring Angel Investing as an Asset Class, held Today at Conference Hall of the Chamber

Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry organised a Knowledge Series on Start Up: “Exploring Angel Investing as an Asset Class” today at the Chamber.

The Knowledge Series was addressed by Shri Abhishek Rungta, Founder and CEO, Indus Net Technologies, Shri Srish Agrawal, Founder & CEO, A1 Future Technologies and Shri Alkesh Agarwal, Founder, Re-Feel & Club Laptop.

While welcoming the guests, Shri Smarajit Mitra, Chairman, Council on Start Up & Skill Development, MCCI in his address announced that MCCI has started a series of Sessions on Start Ups. MCCI is also planning to start the coveted initiative that  is MCCI Start Up Help Desk very soon, for extending mentoring and hand holding services to the Start Up Community and also the prospective entrepreneurs.

Shri Mitra, regarding this Session, mentioned that access to Finance has been one of the most important challenges for the Start Up. Though the situation is changing fast, the sector is still under-capitalized and is in need for timely and adequate capital infusion.

Shri Abhishek Rungta, Founder and CEO, Indus Net Technologies highlighted on how to raise Angel investment for the Start-ups. 

 Shri Rungta suggested three possible ways of investing in startups. In Angel investment, upside potential is massive where as there is limited downside. Start-ups have very fast growth cycle, whatever is new gives high margins.

While investing in start-ups Shri Rungta mentioned that the investors should have patience and look for a return over 1-7 years.

Shri Rungta suggested that if an investor selects any deal with startups, they need to build lots of background knowledge about the venture.  

Shri Srish Agrawal, Founder & CEO, A1 Future Technologies suggested that the Angel investors should be networked.

He further mentioned that it is better to invest in start-ups through syndicate.

While speaking on Angel Investment, Shri Alkesh Agarwal, Founder, Re-Feel & Club Laptop said that Angel Investment is all about selecting business which have huge potential to grow.

Shri Agarwal also mentioned that Angel investing asset is highly illiquid and risky asset in nature. However this asset class has still highly attractive asset cover than other assets.

The Session concluded with a hearty Vote of Thanks by Shri Sanjib Kumar Kothari, Chairman, MCCI Council on MSMEs.
