Odisha State of Small and Medium Newspapers Federation elected Senior journalist Ravi Rath the president of Maha Sangha

Cuttack: As the small and medium newspapers published from different parts of the state are constantly suffering from government neglect, a state organization of small and medium newspapers editors ,owners, publishers of the state of Odisha Rajya Small and Medium Newspaper Mahasangha has been formed to safeguard the interest.Senior journalist Pradeept Kumar Parida, editor of Killing Prabha presided over the Meeting

Mr Sudhir Patnaik , Editor Sammadrusti, magazine, eminent social worker and senior public leader of Cuttack Akshay Kumar Das, and Dr. Pabitra Mohan samantaray, Editor in chief, PARYABEKHYAK & THE KALINGA CHRONICLE joined as Honourable Guests and highlighted how small and medium newspapers are neglected and only small and medium newspapers expose the basic and real problems of the common people giving examples of small and medium newspapers publication from Kujibar’s letter for the protection of Oriya language to Mahatma Gandhi’s Gandhi. News was once the spearhead of the freedom struggle even today small and medium newspapers are still important.

As small and medium newspapers play an important role in the field of local news publishing, the speakers said that the organization will take to the streets if necessary to get the attention of the government to get the attention of the government to provide necessary support, leaving aside the indifferent attitude of the government towards such newspapers, the speakers said. Formulation of a separate policy, inclusion of owners/editors/publishers of RNI-accredited newspapers in Gopbandhu health insurance scheme, lenient approach and recognition of newspapers applying for government approval etc. were discussed.
A full state committee was formed to make the organization operational and Naveen’s editor and senior journalist Ravi Rath was appointed as the state president while Sanjay Kumar Das as the general Secretary Bajram Mahapatre & Jagdish Mishra as Vice president ,Hrushikesh Mohanty & Akshay Kumar Naik, as the Organising secretary, Ramakanth parija & Nityaranjan panda as the joint secretary , Artathran Pati as the treasurer and 11 working committee members were selected.

Sukdev Parida, Krishnachandra Pradhan, Babuli Behera, Mariza Rizwan Baig, Jnandatta Behera, Badri Mishra, Prakash Chandra Khatoi, Hrishikesh Mohanty, Giridhari Patnaik, Kamalakant Das, Dambarudhar Das, Saroj Patnaik, Nitya Niranjan Panda from various parts of the state participated prominently in the discussion.
