Over 200 Bodies Were Discovered Decomposing On A Pakistani Hospital’s Roof

At least 200 decomposing bodies were discovered on a hospital’s roof in Multan, Pakistan, on October 14. No government official has yet confirmed or denied the number of bodies, but it has been determined to look into the tragedy.

Numerous bodies are reportedly decomposing in the room constructed on the roof of Multan’s Nishtar Hospital, according to official sources. But according to claims on social media, hundreds of human body parts have been found on the roof.

On Twitter, the former federal minister Moonis Elahi posted an update on the situation and included the first statement from the chair of the anatomy department at Nishtar Medical University.

According to Geo News, the HOD explained that these are the unidentified bodies that the police had turned over to them for post-mortem and if required to be utilized for educating MBBS students.

Tariq Zaman Gujjar, the chief minister of Punjab’s advisor, claimed that a tip from a whistleblower made him aware of the incident.

Gujjar was visiting Nishtar Hospital when a man approached him and advised him to check out the morgue if he wanted to perform a good deed.

He claimed that when he got there, the staff wasn’t prepared to open the mortuary’s doors. Gujjar responded by threatening to file an FIR against them if they don’t open it straight away.

When he eventually entered, he saw at least 200 dead strewn around. The dead bodies were all naked. Even female bodies were exposed.

Two of the bodies on the roof were just beginning to decompose. They were covered with maggots. The bodies on the roof were being scavenged by vultures and worms. The count revealed that there was at least 35 dead on the mortuary’s rooftop.

He was informed by hospital doctors that those were utilized by medical students as teaching tools. Gujjar argued, however, that the bodies should have had a proper burial following Namaz-e-Janaza instead of being tossed on the roof after being utilized for medical education purposes.

According to Geo News, Punjab Chief Minister Pervez Elahi noticed the abandoned remains and requested a report from the secretary of Punjab’s specialized healthcare and medical education.

After the bodies were found and videos and photographs were posted online, the Punjab government established a six-person committee to look into the event. On the other hand, the vice-chancellor of Nishtar Medical University has also established a three-person team to conduct an investigation into the occurrence.
