Parable Of A Young Bengali Creative Film Editor
The rough cut, the director’s cut, and the final cut that is shown in theatres are the three film versions that go through the laborious editing process. The movie is assembled from thousands of feet of footage by the director and editor, who labor frame by frame to assure consistency and quality. And Korak Mishra of Kolkata, one of the “75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow,” was chosen for the International Film Festival of India’s (IFFI) creative category to test the mettle of 75 young people between the ages of 18 and 35, has successfully mastered that aptitude.
Korak was chosen from the list of candidates for the movie “An Old Man and His Passion.”
The “75 Creative Minds of Tomorrow” were chosen after a thorough procedure by a distinguished committee made up of Lifetime Awardees and Grammy, Oscar, and National Film Award winners. Prasoon Joshi, Resul Pookutty, R Balki, Rickey Kej, Mala Dey Banthia, Gautami Tadimalla, Ballu Saluja, Munjal Shroff, Narendra Rahurikar, and Ravi K Chandran made up the grand jury.
Korak began making films after earning his degree in comparative literature from Jadavpur University. He began fully dedicating himself to film and video editing in March 2022 as a self-taught editor with unrivaled enthusiasm for cinema. He has already edited a number of fiction, short, and documentary films. The short film he edited, “Undivided Solitude,” won the best film prize in the PSBT (Prasar Bharati) Film Challenge-2020-21 during the Covid-related lockdown. He also created the sound for this movie. A number of international film festivals, including the LIHS Urban Lens Film Festival and the Habitat International Film Festival, screened this particular movie.
Recently, Korak edited a full-length feature film, and sound mixing is currently in progress. Additionally, he has finished a documentary series on Kolkata, which will be made available online in January or February of the following year. In addition to producing an advertisement, he has begun work on a documentary about musicians in Kolkata.
It should be noted that he edited the short film that won the best film at the Anandalok Short-cut Short Film Competition.
Along with commercials, Korak also enjoys making music videos and business movies. Additionally, he is a fervent poet who incorporates poetry into all of his works.
There is a crack in everything, according to Korak’s worldview. The light enters in that way. And he strives to emphasize in his works what he believes.
Bravo to him and your efforts.
