Revival Of The Traditional Bengali “Tribeni Kumbho Mohotshav” Is Mentioned In PM Modi’s Mann Ki Baat Speech

On February26, the 98th edition of Mann Ki Baat, the monthly radio show hosted by Prime Minister Narendra Modi mentioned the revival of “Tribeni Kumbho Mohotshav” in Bansberia, West Bengal.

Bansberia’s “Tribeni Kumbho Mohotshav” received a portion of his approximately 32-minute Mann Ki Baat speech.

The long-standing festival, which is observed on the banks of the Ganga, goes back thousands of years, but it was discontinued 700 years ago and only recently revived.

Since ancient times, Tribeni in West Bengal has been regarded as a sacred location. Numerous Mangalakavya, Vaishnava, Shakta, and other Bengali literary works make reference to it.

Shriman Kanchan Banerjee, who resides in the US, drew his attention to this traditional heritage in West Bengal, the speaker continued.

PM Modi expressed his gratitude to everyone involved in preserving this custom and safeguarding India’s traditional heritage.

The three-day Kumbh Mahasnan and the fair, which took place seven centuries later, have given the area fresh life, he claimed.

The Ganga Aarti, Rudrabhishek, and Yajna, which were held each day for three days, drew a sizable crowd. This time around, the celebration also included a number of ashrams, mutts, and akhadas.

Different Bengali cultural styles like Kirtan, Baul, Godiyo Nritto, Sree-Khol, Poter Gaan, and Chou-Nach became the festival’s main draws.
