The press meet of ‘Rupantar’, a web series produced by Niri9 and directed by R.K starring Mantu Mallick( who has acted in quite a few Bengali films), Kusum Samanta ( one of the very few trans actor/ actress/artistes of the industry and seen in Phirki on Zee Bangla ), Subho, Tapan, Papia, Aahan, Abhishek, Swaswata Ghosh, Rajkumar, Sandipta, Amit, Tushar and others took place at the Press Club on Wednesday.
The story speaks about how a common man Kumaresh(Montu Mallick), his wife Rita ( Ritu ), son Kajal (Aahan) are struggling in each end point of life
and what hurdles they face in this human race. The story also describes how transgenders – Rekha and her team(Kusum Samanta and others) pass their life in grief but in spite of that, they also try to find a way to live their life happily. There are twists and turns in every layer of this story. Hence the story is a clear reflection of the society.
The web series is the first Bengali project to be produced by Niri9( an App), which has been publicized and the ‘formal launch’ or unveiling of the app also took place on the occasion in the presence of the cast+crew and Junmoni Devi Khaund, the producer of the web series who is also the promoter of the App.The App is available on Google Play store and Apple Store and intends to support directors by producing several other projects which have good content in the future.
The web series is expected to be streamed from mid November .
The app is available for viewers in 7 countries like Bangladesh, Bhutan, Myanmar, U.K, U.S.A, Pakistan and Nepal.
