The Road Ahead with Ms J Charukesi, Chief Postmaster General, W.BCircle held 8 june 2022 at MCCI

Merchants’ Chamber of Commerce & Industry organised a Special Session on India Post: The Road Ahead with Ms. J. Charukesi, Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal Circle 8 june 2022 at the Chamber.
The Session centered around the recent developments of India postal system and benefits which have been provided to the customers.
Shri Arun Kumar Churiwal, Past President, MCCI in his Welcome Address suggested that India Post should think of its growth in commercial terms. There is a huge area still untapped, which India Post can tap partnering with private sector players. This can certainly make India Post a commercially viable entity and prevent further drainage of the Indian exchequer.
Ms. J. Charukesi, Chief Postmaster General, West Bengal Circle in her address mentioned that India Post is one of the few accountable organisations in the country and this medium directly serves the public.

While speaking on Business Development, Ms Carukesi mentioned the benefits of Speed Postal system. The corporate customers can access free pickup service for their goods.
While speaking on cost effectiveness in domestic parcels, she stated that Business Parcel system by Indian Post is an economical and reliable distribution solution for the customers. In West Bengal, there are 18 Executive Parcel Booking Counters available.
In the context of Logistic postal system, she further mentioned that Logistic Post provides business customers a cost effective and efficient solution.
She further mentioned that India Post has introduced Express Cargo Service in collaboration with the Indian Railways to target B2B and B2C with focus on e-commerce and MSME market segments at an affordable price. There have been already introduced two Express Cargo Services from Surat to Benaras and Surat to Chapra.
Ms Charukesi informed the house that during COVID lockdown, India Post was one of the few service providers which brought money, medicines and other useful products to the customers at their doorstep.
It was stated that India Post Payments Bank (IPPB) has been operational since 2018. It has 1.5 crore accounts and Rs. 5,000 crore in deposits. A postman can open an account in about 3 minutes with a micro ATM. There is no paperwork and the entire process is digital. The services of IPPB include Digital Life Certificate (DLC) and Aadhaar Enabled Payment System under which one can use their Aadhaar number to withdraw up to Rs. 10,000 if they lose their wallet.
The Session concluded with a hearty Vote of Thanks by Shri Smarajit Mitra, Chairman, MCCI Council on Start-up and Skill Development.
