Trinamool “Outsider,” The Party Of Mamata Banerjee Conrad Sangma Claims That In Meghalaya
Conrad Sangma, the chief minister of Meghalaya and the leader of the National People’s Party, dismissed Mamata Banerjee’s challenge, calling her Trinamool party an “outsider” in the impending state elections. She has his highest respect, Mr. Sangma said.
Mr. Sangma emphasized that it will take some time for the party of the Bengal Chief Minister to get established in the state.
Following the resignation of previous chief minister Mukul Sangma and several other Congress lawmakers, Trinamool rose to prominence as the primary opposition in the state. Mamata Banerjee declared during the launch of her party’s Meghalaya campaign that her party’s main election strategy is to defeat the BJP and its proxies.
The majority party in the ruling Meghalaya Democratic Alliance is Mr. Sangma’s NPP, the only political party from the northeast to be recognized as a national party (MDA). The BJP is a member of the MDA and has not reached a pre-election agreement with any political party.
The Chief Minister expressed his confidence in a strong showing in the elections.
Election day in Meghalaya is February 27. The voting will take place on March 2.
