Late on Tuesday evening in Indore, Madhya Pradesh, two young army officers were savagely attacked and their friend was gang-raped at gunpoint. The gang was having a picnic when the attackers seemingly decided to ambush them and steal from them.
Two of the attackers have been taken into custody by the police, one of them has a prior criminal history.
The two officers, who are undergoing training at the Mhow Army College, which is located close to Indore, had spent the afternoon with two female acquaintances at a location close to the firing range at Chhoti Jam.
Suddenly, eight men brandishing sticks, knives, and firearms surrounded them. Before robbing the women and trainee police of their money and possessions, the men beat them up.
When the attackers kidnapped one cop and a lady and sent the second officer and a woman to collect a ₹ 10 lakh ransom, the situation became more serious. Fearing for his life, the officer ran back to his squad and notified his superior officer, who called the police immediately. When the attackers saw the incoming cars, police officers and military troops raced to the scene, but the terrorists left.
At around 6.30 am, all four were brought to the Mhow Civil Hospital for a medical assessment. There were injuries to both cops.
“A case under (BNS) sections pertaining to loot, dacoity, rape and under the Arms Act has been registered,” said senior police officer Hitika Vasal, PTI reported. The police are looking for the other criminals involved, the officer said.
