Nation – Environment Day for environmental protection is an Action for Life Action for Lifestyle

Life and the environment are inextricably linked. Nature provides man with everything he needs to live, so it is everyone’s responsibility to focus on environmental protection, promotion, and development. World Environment Day is observed on June 5 to raise environmental awareness and sensitivity. The United Nations General Assembly established Environment Day, the world’s largest celebration of nature. With Action for Life, the central government has initiated numerous special environmental initiatives.
Rapid development while protecting the environment is only possible with everyone’s help and a holistic plan. The harmony maintained by our forefathers with nature is the key to the earth’s long life. Whatever schemes the current central government has implemented over the last nine years, there is a desire to protect the environment in some way.
Whether it’s the Swachh Bharat Mission or Waste to Wealth programmes, the AMRUT Mission’s construction of modern sewage treatment plants in cities, a campaign to eliminate single-use plastic, or the Namami Gange Abhiyan, the emphasis on One Sun, One Grid, Solar Energy, or increased ethanol production and blending, India’s environmental efforts have been multifaceted. India is making this effort at a time when the world is concerned about climate change, in which India has no say.
The world’s large and modern countries not only exploit more natural resources, but also emit the most carbon dioxide. The global average for carbon emissions per person is 4 metric tonnes. While India’s per capita carbon footprint is only about half a tonne per year. Despite this, India is taking a comprehensive approach to environmental protection, not only within the country but also through engagement with the global community.
Internationally, India was instrumental in establishing the Coalition for Disaster Resilient Infrastructure (CDRI) and the International Solar Alliance (ISA). India has resolved to achieve net zero emissions by 2070. On the occasion of World Environment Day last year, Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a global initiative called ‘Lifestyle for the Environment (LiFE) Movement’.” The launch was done with the intention of inspiring people, communities, and organisations all over the world to live more environmentally conscious lives.
To reduce pollution, we bypassed BS-5 standards and went straight from BS-4 to BS-6. The Ujala Yojana was launched to provide LED bulbs across the country. The central government has begun work on a new natural farming corridor along the Ganges. This will not only make our fields chemical-free, but it will also give the Namami Gange campaign a boost. India is also working to restore 26 million hectares of degraded land by 2030.
India’s commitment to generate 40% of installed electricity capacity from non-fossil fuel sources was met nine years ahead of schedule. The 10% ethanol blending target in petrol has been met five months ahead of schedule, in November 2022. This is a significant accomplishment, as blending was only 1.5 percent in 2013-14 and 5 percent in 2019-20. The government is putting a lot of emphasis on renewable energy, and the way forward is linked to innovation and openness. When technology and tradition come together, it alters one’s perspective on life. A significant section of the railway network is now electrified. Solar energy is also increasingly being used to power the country’s airports.
The Central Government has decided to commemorate Environment Day this year, with lifestyle remaining at the forefront of Mission LiFE beginning in 2021. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has called for a global goal to be re-achieved in terms of adopting sustainable lifestyles and practises. Public participation programmes on LiFE are being organised across the country as part of this initiative. Garbage is being removed from the riverbanks.
“We have taken the utmost care of our earth and environment. Today, on Environment Day, we reiterate our commitment to safeguarding a clean earth. Living together with nature will lead to a better future.” -Narendra Modi, Prime Minister
