Recently in Hyderabad, The Bharatiya Janata Party’s national executive meeting was held which was attended by the party’s top representative led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi. It indicated a new plan to rule directly South India. Especially the main focus was on Telangana since the state came under the Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) in 2014. This meeting was arranged on demand to rename Hyderabad, the capital of Telangana, as Bhagyanagar.
It was claimed that the city’s original name was Bhagyanagar, as a proof to this statement there is a bhagyalakshmi temple which share common wall with Charminar.
Charminar is a prominent landmark of the city which was built by Quli Qutub Shah known as the father of city in 1591.
To mark importance of the temple of Bhagyalakshmi, union minister Amit Shah visited a temple last year in December while campaigning in the municipal election in Hyderabad. Also after the election the elected BJP cooperator was taken to bhagyalakshmi temple to pay their respect.
The name Bhagyanagar is taken from Baghnagar which was called during the medieval time because of gardens. There was a picture of 1959 that was circulated shows that there was no temple at the side of the Charminar. It was believe that a cobbler used to be there for his work in 1950s. It is also said that the temple was an addition by the Telangana state in the 1960.
It is believed that the Bhagyalakshmi temple established secretly during the power of Indira Gandhi.
This is not the first time when BJP change any state or cities name. Before this the Allahabad was changed into Prayagraj and many more changes were made.
The BGP has four looks of a seat in this state currently and is looking for a bigger place 2023 poll. As the large scale area of the State has anti-remaining sentiment, the BJP is still on a hold to rename Hyderabad as Bhagyanagar. But, recently on national executive meeting Prime Minister spoke about Bhagyanagar. It was believed that the final call to rename Hyderabad will be taken to Assembly election and the 2024 national election.
