Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has vehemently denounced what he describes as “an antisemitic surge” sweeping across the United States, particularly evident in the backdrop of anti-Israel and pro-Palestinian demonstrations occurring on nearly 21 campuses across the nation.

In a recent video message, Netanyahu expressed deep concern over the escalating situation unfolding on American college campuses. He lamented the rise of antisemitic sentiments, characterizing it as “horrific” and drawing parallels to historical atrocities.

Netanyahu highlighted the alarming nature of the situation, emphasizing that antisemitic mobs have effectively seized control of prominent universities, espousing rhetoric advocating for the annihilation of Israel. Moreover, he decried the targeting of Jewish students and faculty, equating the scenario to the persecution witnessed in German universities during the 1930s.

The Israeli Prime Minister spared no criticism for the response—or lack thereof—of several university presidents, branding it as “shameful” and calling for unequivocal condemnation. He underscored the urgent need for leaders at all levels to recognize the gravity of the issue and take decisive action to address it.

While acknowledging the differing responses from state, local, and federal officials, Netanyahu stressed that more must be done to combat the rising tide of antisemitism. He emphasized that the threat extends beyond attacks on Israel and Jews, pointing out that the same individuals harbor hostile sentiments towards America.

Netanyahu warned against the exponential increase in antisemitism across America and Western societies, attributing it to Israel’s efforts to defend itself against genocidal terrorists who exploit civilian populations. He decried the false accusations leveled against Israel, including allegations of genocide and war crimes, labeling them as baseless libel.

Despite the persistent nature of antisemitism, Netanyahu urged both Jewish and non-Jewish individuals to take a stand against hatred and bigotry. He implored them to actively speak out and oppose antisemitism, emphasizing the importance of collective action in safeguarding common values and ensuring a better future for all.

At the University of Texas, police wearing riot gear confronted students. The protests, which condemn the increasing casualties in Gaza, have extended to multiple college campuses across the US. More than a hundred students have been detained for occupying campuses, a move Jewish students argue is antisemitic. The Gaza strip war is now in it’s seventh month with over 34,200 recorded deaths according to the Hamas-run health ministry.
