Government of India Invites Applications for Senior Citizen Care Projects
News Mania Desk/Agnibeena Ghosh/12th July 2024
The Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment’s Senior Citizen Division has announced the opening of applications for new projects aimed at providing care for senior citizens under the Integrated Programme for Senior Citizens (IPSrC), a sub-scheme of the Atal Vayo Abhyuday Yojana (AVYAY). The call for applications includes three specific types of projects: a Senior Citizen Home for 25 beneficiaries (SrCH-25), a Senior Citizen Home for 50 beneficiaries (SrCH-50), and a Continuous Care Home for persons afflicted with Alzheimer’s/Dementia (CCH) for 20 beneficiaries. These projects are intended to operate in the identified gap districts across various States and Union Territories for the fiscal year 2024-25.
The detailed eligibility criteria and conditions for these projects are outlined in the AVYAY scheme guidelines, available on the Ministry’s website. Eligible NGOs, trusts, and charitable institutions with at least two years of experience in the social sector are encouraged to apply via the Ministry’s e-anudaan portal. The application period runs from July 1, 2024, to August 15, 2024. The Ministry emphasizes that applications submitted through any other means will not be considered.
Organizations are advised to consult with their respective district administrations to confirm if their proposed project area is classified as a gap district. This step is crucial as the Department of Social Justice and Empowerment (DoSJE) reserves the right to amend or cancel the notice and reissue calls for proposals as needed.
Queries regarding the application process can be directed to Bharati Gusain, Under Secretary to the Government of India, via email at bharati.gusain@nic.in. The Ministry’s NIC division has also been requested to facilitate the opening of the portal for these new projects for the fiscal year 2024-25.
This initiative highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to enhancing the care infrastructure for senior citizens, particularly in underserved areas, and invites capable organizations to contribute to this noble cause.
