The Paris Olympics 2024 have kicked off with a thrilling start on Day 1, drawing global attention to the highly anticipated shooting events. Among the standout athletes are Indian shooters Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan, who are competing in the Women’s 10m air pistol qualification rounds. As the qualification phase unfolds, all eyes are on these two promising competitors as they aim for a spot in the final.

Manu Bhaker and Rhythm Sangwan showcased commendable performances in the initial series of the Women’s 10m air pistol event, each scoring 97 points. Bhaker’s impressive start has placed her in the 4th position, while Sangwan is currently ranked 7th. This strong showing is pivotal as they look to secure their places among the top eight qualifiers who will advance to tomorrow’s final.

Earlier in the day, Indian shooters Sarabjot Singh and Arjun Singh Cheema faced disappointment as they fell short of qualifying for the Men’s 10m air pistol final. Singh finished in 9th place, narrowly missing out on the final by a single point, while Cheema ended up in 18th position. This setback is compounded by the fact that two Indian pairs did not make it to the final of the 10m air rifle mixed team event, highlighting a challenging start for India in the shooting category.

In addition to the shooting events, Balraj Panwar competed in the men’s individual skulls rowing event and finished 4th in Heat 1. With only three automatic qualification spots available from each heat, Panwar will need to perform strongly in the repechage round to secure a place in the finals.

The Paris Olympics are also buzzing with action beyond the shooting range. In tennis, India’s Rohan Bopanna and N. Sriram Balaji are set to face off against the French duo Gael Monfils and Edouard Roger-Vasselin in the first round of the men’s doubles. The outcome of this match will be eagerly awaited by fans and can potentially set the tone for the Indian pair’s campaign in the tournament.

As the first day of the Paris Olympics progresses, the competition is expected to intensify with more events and performances capturing the global spotlight. For live updates, fans can follow the latest developments and track the progress of their favorite athletes as they strive for Olympic glory.
