Renowned veteran journalist Amrit Kanti Ghosh passes away

Amrit Kanti Ghose ,who covered a hattrick of Olympics from 1976 to 1984 for Amrita Bazar Patrika-Jugantar newspapers, is no more. He was born into the illustrious Amrita Bazar Patrika -Jugantar Family on the 24th of June, 1952. An accomplished senior correspondent, Amrit covered the Montreal Olympics in 1976 at the young age of 24. He also covered the Moscow Olympics in 1980 and Los Angelas Olympics in 1984 at the age of 32. Mt Everest conquerer Sir Edmund Hillary (who was later High Commissioner of New Zealand to India) was accompanied by a young companion,Amrit Kanti Ghose, on his 1977 Ocean to Sky expedition.
Amrit Kanti Ghosh was also the press manager of Amrita Bazar Patrika-Jugantar when the newspapers functioned till the 1990s. Throughout his life, he was involved in social and healing work and aiding others in Kolkata and nationally. After a sudden and brief illness, Amrit passed away on the 31st of July, 2024. With Amrit gone, whose eyes to compare to the morning sun? Not that we did, but we do now, that he is gone.
Loving wife Susmita and doting daughters Rhea and Misha together with a host of relatives and friends are all left behind to mourn his loss.
