BTS member Jin has been officially announced as the new global ambassador for luxury brand Gucci. This development comes on the heels of his recent discharge from military service, a period that saw him receiving a range of gifts, including a Wooteo cake from a renowned luxury brand. This gesture fueled speculation about his future roles, which has now been confirmed with Jin’s appointment as Gucci’s global ambassador.
The announcement has garnered significant attention, especially as Jin, who has been known for his stylish and charismatic presence, takes on this prestigious role. Gucci’s Creative Director, Sabato De Sarno, expressed high praise for Jin, highlighting his warm and magnetic personality. De Sarno described Jin’s style as uniquely impressive, emphasizing that his remarkable talent and ability to connect with people through his music make him an ideal partner for the brand.
Jin’s connection with Gucci is not new; he has been seen sporting Gucci apparel on numerous occasions and has previously expressed admiration for the brand. He has described Gucci as iconic, appreciating its blend of rich heritage and modern elegance. The opportunity to become a part of Gucci’s illustrious roster, which includes other prominent Korean ambassadors like Hanni, Lee Jung Jae, Park Gyu Young, and Jay Park, is a significant milestone in Jin’s career.
Gucci’s appointment of Jin comes as part of a broader strategy to strengthen its ties with South Korea. The brand is set to launch its latest cultural initiative, Gucci Cultural Month, on October 15 in Seoul. This project is designed to celebrate Korean cultural heritage by showcasing the contributions of individuals who have elevated local arts on a global scale.
Jin, the eldest member of BTS, recently served as an Olympic torchbearer for South Korea during the 2024 Paris Olympics, adding to his impressive list of achievements. He became the first BTS member to complete mandatory military service, which he finished in June. In addition to his music career, Jin holds a master’s degree in acting from Konkuk University and has hosted various South Korean music programs from 2016 to 2018. His contributions to Korean culture were recognized in 2018 when he and his BTS bandmates were awarded the fifth-class Hwagwan Order of Cultural Merit by the President of South Korea.
Further expanding his role in cultural diplomacy, Jin and his BTS colleagues were appointed as Special Presidential Envoys for Future Generations and Culture by President Moon Jae-in in July 2021. This role involves leading global initiatives focused on sustainable development and enhancing South Korea’s international presence. With BTS expected to reunite in June 2025, following the completion of military service by the remaining members, Jin’s new role as Gucci’s global ambassador marks a significant moment in his post-military career.
Jin’s appointment as Gucci’s global ambassador not only highlights his personal achievements but also underscores the growing influence of Korean celebrities in the global fashion and cultural landscape.
