On Friday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath commemorated the legacy of Bharat Ratna Atal Bihari Vajpayee, asserting that Vajpayee laid the foundational stones of modern India. Speaking on the sixth death anniversary of the former Prime Minister, Adityanath highlighted Vajpayee’s pivotal role in shaping contemporary Indian governance and infrastructure.

During a tribute ceremony at Lok Bhavan, Adityanath paid floral respects to Vajpayee’s statue, emphasizing the former leader’s significant contributions to the country. He praised Vajpayee for his exemplary model of governance, which included advancements in infrastructure and rural development. The Chief Minister particularly lauded the Antyodaya programs initiated during Vajpayee’s tenure, describing them as a testament to his visionary leadership.

Adityanath noted that Vajpayee, born on December 25, 1924, maintained a spotless public life that spanned nearly sixty years. His tenure in Indian politics, according to Adityanath, elevated the political landscape to unprecedented heights. The Chief Minister referred to Vajpayee as an ‘ajaatshatru,’ or a person without enemies, underlining his broad-based respect and acceptance across the political spectrum.

Reflecting on Vajpayee’s illustrious career, Adityanath acknowledged his early political influences, including the guidance of Dr. Syama Prasad Mukherjee and Pandit Deendayal Upadhyay. Vajpayee first entered Parliament in 1957 as the Member of Parliament from Balrampur, now known as Shravasti. Over the years, he served multiple terms in the Lok Sabha and twice in the Rajya Sabha, including five terms representing the Lucknow constituency.

Despite his passing, Vajpayee’s influence continues to resonate, with his poetry, principles, and the ideals he championed remaining a source of inspiration. Adityanath emphasized that Vajpayee’s efforts in steering India towards becoming a global superpower have left an indelible mark on the nation’s history. The Chief Minister expressed the nation’s gratitude for Vajpayee’s monumental contributions, which were rightfully recognized with the Bharat Ratna award.

The tribute ceremony was attended by several prominent figures, including Deputy Chief Minister Keshav Prasad Maurya, Brajesh Pathak, BJP President Chaudhary Bhupendra Singh, Chief Secretary Manoj Kumar Singh, and former Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma, among others. Their presence underscored the collective reverence for Vajpayee’s enduring legacy in Indian politics and governance.
