CHENNAI – The current global security scenario is in a state of constant flux and the ongoing conflicts in the world make it clear that there is an imperative need for a strong and capable Air Force in the country, said Chief of Air Staff Air Chief Marshal Amar Preet Singh.

He said the ability to adopt the latest technology as well as to think innovatively and out of the box would play a decisive role in the current multifaceted environment.

Indian Air Force (IAF) celebrated its 92nd anniversary in a grand manner at the Tambaram Air Force Station in Chennai on October 8.

There was a spectacular ceremonial parade, a wonderful display of air power and a spectacular display of state-of-the-art equipment.

Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan graced the ceremony while the newly appointed Air Force Chief inspected the parade.

In his speech, the Air Force Chief emphasised the need for the IAF to remain prepared to deal with any contingency challenging the national interests.

“In the last few years, we have become more empowered with better technology and have achieved new levels of enhanced use of defence systems and weapons,” Singh said.

The Air Force Chief termed Air Force Day as an occasion for the air warriors to rededicate themselves to the service of the nation, introspect on the past year’s work, celebrate achievements, identify areas of improvement and prepare themselves as per the current and future requirements.

“Our primary objective is to deliver weapons on target, on time, every time and this was efficiently demonstrated during Exercise ‘Vayu Shakti’ conducted at Pokhran Ranges in February 2024 to demonstrate lethal power,” he said.

The air show parade was followed by a spectacular aerial display, in which various jet aircraft including Tejas Light Combat Aircraft, Sukhoi-30 MKI and Pilatus performed daring aerial stunts at low altitude.

During the event, the skies of Chennai were painted in the colors of the national flag. The Suryakiran Aerobatics Team and the Sarang Helicopter Team mesmerized the people by performing thrilling performances.

The static display showcased state-of-the-art equipment like ALH MK-4, C-295 transport aircraft, Akash missile defense system, HTT-40 and Rohini radar.
