D K Shivakumar, the deputy chief minister of Karnataka, declared on Saturday that his party would expose the BJP on the Waqf problem because the Saffron party was the only one to implement modifications in tax records that favored the Waqf Board.
Shivakumar said that the BJP regime began altering the revenue records of rights, tenancy, and crops in favor of the Waqf Board during its tenure, and that many properties were transferred in that board’s name. The BJP is prepared to put pressure on the Congress government by staging a massive protest and a month-long march on the Waqf issue.
The Deputy Chief Minister told reporters that the BJP’s opposition to the issue was “foolishness” because the government had all the necessary documentation to identify them. “We will expose them,” he declared, adding that they were only afterward made aware of these facts. Additionally, because everyone was preoccupied with the recent elections, the matter did not become public knowledge. The BJP will boycott ‘Waqf notices’ to farmers, people, and institutions from November 25 to December 25.
Chief Minister Siddaramaiah declared that all notices sent to farmers, people, and organizations will be withdrawn once the Waqf dispute began to rage in the state. The two BJP factions, one headed by Vijayapura MLA Basanagouda Patil Yatnal and the other by state chairman B Y Vijayendra, have made the decision to challenge the Congress administration on the Waqf issue independently.
The Yatnal faction would march for a month from Bidar in north Karnataka to Chamarajanagar in the south, while Vijayendra has organized a massive agitation in Belagavi during the legislature’s winter session.
