The IMD issues a yellow alert for dense fog conditions as the AQI reaches 500 in multiple areas of the capital.

As of seven in the morning on Tuesday, Delhi’s average air quality index (AQI) was 492. In contrast, the Central Pollution Control Board reports that the AQI in Alipur, Anand Vihar, Bawana, Narela, Pusa, and Sonia Vihar reached the maximum level of 500. Twenty-one out of the 38 air quality monitoring sites recorded an AQI of 490 or higher. For Delhi and the National Capital Region (NCR), the India Meteorological Department (IMD) issued a yellow advisory due to moderate-to-dense fog conditions. As of 7 am, there was 600 meters of visibility over the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) Airport.
The Supreme Court ruled a day earlier that restrictions imposed to address the issue under Stage 4 of the Graded Response Action Plan (GRAP) would stand until additional directives. “All states will immediately constitute teams for monitoring implementation of actions which are required to be taken under Stage 4,” the court stated, directing the NCR governments to strictly follow Stage 4 of GRAP. Additionally, the court requested that states in the NCR region make a decision right away to discontinue all in-person classes.

All academic activities, including lectures and tutorials, will take place online starting on November 19, 2024, and continuing until further notice.Delhi’s Jamia Millia Islamia Classes went online on Tuesday and will remain so until Saturday. Additionally, the Jamia Millia Islamia school section announced that, until further notice, all classes up to Grade V would now be conducted online.
