91 Palestinians Killed in Gaza While Attempting to Receive Aid, Humanitarian Crisis Deepens

At least 91 Palestinians have been killed and over 600 injured in the past 24 hours as violence erupted near aid distribution points across Gaza, according to local health authorities. The deadliest incidents occurred near the Zikim crossing and in central and southern regions of the enclave, where large crowds had gathered in hopes of receiving essential supplies.
Witnesses and aid groups reported chaotic scenes as people were shot while waiting for food and medical assistance. The Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), which coordinates many of these aid deliveries, has come under mounting pressure as demand vastly exceeds supply. Only about 220 trucks are entering Gaza daily, far short of the estimated 500 to 600 required to meet basic needs.
U.S. Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, accompanied by former Arkansas Governor Mike Huckabee, arrived in Israel this week to assess the aid situation. Their mission includes securing Israeli commitments for daily pauses in military activity and ensuring safer distribution mechanisms at aid sites.
International concern has grown sharply. France condemned the current aid distribution model as a “bloodbath” and demanded an immediate halt to operations under unsafe conditions. The United Nations Human Rights Office reported over 1,000 deaths linked to aid collection incidents since May, describing the humanitarian situation as catastrophic.
Medical organizations have warned of a deepening crisis, with acute malnutrition and dehydration on the rise amid ongoing hostilities and insufficient supplies. The World Health Organization has characterized the situation as “man-made,” urging the international community to intervene decisively.
The tragedy underscores the urgent need for protected humanitarian corridors and scaled-up aid delivery. Without immediate action, aid groups warn that the civilian death toll will continue to rise, and famine could become widespread in the weeks ahead.
