Actress Kelley Mack, widely recognized for her role as Addy in Season 9 of The Walking Dead, passed away on August 2 at the age of 33 in Cincinnati after battling a rare and aggressive brain cancer, central nervous system glioma.
Mack, born Kelley Lynne Klebenow on July 10, 1992, was diagnosed with the illness in January 2025, following symptoms that began the previous year. Her condition deteriorated rapidly, leading to paralysis from the waist down after a biopsy. Despite her health challenges, Mack maintained a strong presence on social media, sharing candid updates about her recovery journey and physical therapy efforts, which she tackled with resilience and humor.
Mack’s acting career began in commercials during childhood, eventually leading to roles in films like Broadcast Signal Intrusion and appearances in TV shows including Chicago Med and 9-1-1. She also contributed behind the scenes as a producer, with one of her projects, Universal, set to release posthumously.
Her family, including her mother Kristen and aunt Karen, were by her side at the time of her passing. In a touching tribute, her sister Kathryn described her as brave, inspiring, and filled with love. Friends and relatives reported seeing butterflies after her death, which they interpreted as a symbolic sign of her enduring presence.
A public memorial will take place in Glendale, Ohio, on August 16, followed by a remembrance event in Los Angeles. Mack is survived by her parents, siblings, extended family, and partner. Her legacy remains in her performances and the courage she demonstrated through her battle with cancer.
