According to reports, the Pakistan Air Force dropped eight bombs in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on Monday, killing at least 30 people, including women and children. Reports state that at around two in the morning today, JF-17 fighter planes dropped the LS-6 bombs on the Pashtun-majority Matre Dara village. According to accounts, a number of other persons were also hurt. However, confirmation of this was still pending.

The Air Force was reportedly targeting Tehreek-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) hideouts in the region, according to local media. Every victim was a civilian. Several military operations against militants sheltering in the mountainous province that borders Afghanistan have taken place in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa in recent days.

The army declared on Sunday that an intelligence-based operation in the Dera Ismail Khan province had killed seven TTP terrorists. According to a statement released by the army’s media branch, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), three of the seven dead were Afghan nationals and two were suicide bombers.

At least 31 TTP militants were slain in two different battles in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa on September 13–14. Terrorist activity has increased recently in Pakistan, mostly in the districts that border Afghanistan. Last Monday, Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif stated that Afghanistan had to decide whether to support Pakistan or terrorists.
