The Mahagathbandhan alliance, led by RJD’s Tejashwi Yadav, released its election manifesto titled “Tejashwi Pran” on Tuesday, promising a wide range of welfare measures focused on employment, women’s empowerment, and social security ahead of the Bihar Assembly polls.

At the heart of the manifesto is a bold assurance of “one government job per family.” The alliance pledged to enact a law within 20 days of assuming power and to start implementing it within 20 months. Another key highlight is the “Mai-Behin Maan Yojana,” under which every woman above 18 years will receive ₹2,500 per month—amounting to ₹30,000 annually for five years. The manifesto also promises 200 units of free electricity per household and subsidised LPG cylinders for low-income families.

For government employees, the coalition vowed to restore the Old Pension Scheme (OPS) and regularize all contractual and outsourced workers. The manifesto further promises to grant permanent status and a fixed monthly salary of ₹30,000 to members of the Jeevika women’s self-help groups.

In the agriculture sector, the Mahagathbandhan pledged to guarantee Minimum Support Price (MSP) for all crops, revive traditional mandis, and strengthen rural markets. It also announced plans to halt the implementation of the Waqf (Amendment) Bill in Bihar, citing the need for transparency in waqf property management.

Unveiling the document, Tejashwi Yadav said, “We are presenting a concrete roadmap for Bihar’s progress over the next five years.” Congress leader Pawan Khera called it “a vision to make Bihar number one.”

The manifesto underscores the alliance’s attempt to appeal to youth, women, and farmers with a mix of economic populism and social welfare ahead of the crucial state elections.
