A university located in a small village in the Faridabad region of Haryana has come under scrutiny as the investigation into the Delhi blast and the “white collar” terror module case has intensified. After almost 360 kg of explosives were found in one of the faculty members’ rented apartments, Al Falah University in Dhauj village, Faridabad, which spans more than 70 acres amidst extensive agricultural area, became the focal point of the continuing investigation.

Hours later, another connection surfaced when a car blew up close to the Red Fort in New Delhi on Monday. Another doctor who taught at the university’s medical college was suspected of being the driver.

Dr. Umar Un Nabi, a physician from Pulwama who taught at Al Falah Medical College, was thought to have been behind the wheel of the vehicle that exploded close to Red Fort, even though the explosives were found in the home of Dr. Muzammil Ganaie. Dr. Shaheen Sayeed, who is thought to be a member of the recently established Jamaat-ul-Mominaat, an organization started by Jaish-e-Mohammed, has also been detained by the government.

Al Falah University has become the focal point of the investigation after the investigators uncovered a connection between the Faridabad terror module case and the Delhi car explosion. At least three suspects connected to the incidents are affiliated with the university.

Al-Falah University is located on 76 acres in the Faridabad district’s Muslim-majority village of Dhauj. According to its website, the university was founded by the Haryana Legislative Assembly under the Haryana Private Universities Act. The Haryana government granted the university university status in 2014 after it began as an engineering college in 1997. The medical college serves students from Bihar and Mewat in Haryana, and over half of its physicians are from Jammu and Kashmir.

After the terror module case, the investigation into Al Falah Medical College has become more intense. Since Dr. Muzammil Ganaie allegedly utilized Room No. 13 in the college building to organize logistics and transit routes for ammonium nitrate meant for explosions, the room has become the focal point of the investigation.

Al Falah University the VC has said that the institution has no connection to the doctors arrested in connection with the terror module busted in Faridabad and the Delhi blast “apart from them working in their official capacity”.

Kaur referred to ammonium nitrate recovered from the accused and said that no such chemicals are stored on the campus. The vice chancellor said the university was extending support to the security agencies in the probe.

“We are anguished by the unfortunate developments that took place and condemn the same… We have also learnt that two of our doctors have been detained by the Investigating Agencies. The University has no connection with the said persons apart from them working in their official capacities with the University,” the VC said in a statement.
