Women in Film India (WIF India), an organization founded by award-winning producer Guneet Monga Kapoor, has unveiled a new flagship initiative titled “The Resilience Playbook,” designed to address the critical need for mental well-being support among female professionals in the cinema industry.
Acknowledging the high degree of uncertainty inherent in the film business, particularly for freelancers, WIF India is launching its first-ever, six-week-long series of workshops dedicated to mental health. The program aims to equip women with the necessary tools to navigate the unpredictable nature of creative careers and build enduring professional paths.
Guneet Monga Kapoor emphasized the necessity of the initiative, stating that while the film industry thrives on independent, creative talent, this structure often results in immense uncertainty. She stressed that resilience is the core skill required to “endure, to adapt, and to carve out our place in this ever-changing industry.” Citing the profound impact the wellness practitioner leading the program has had on her own life, Kapoor expressed excitement for the initiative.
The immersive workshops will be led by wellness practitioner and life coach Chetna Chakravarthy, offering a “safe sanctuary” for female filmmakers. WIF India underscored its commitment by matching and subsidizing the funding necessary to bring the program to fruition.
Rabia Chopra, Head of Programmes & Development at WIF India, further highlighted the program’s philosophy, stating that it is a space for women to “drop the armour, soften, and still feel powerful,” underscoring the belief that “vulnerability is our sharpest intelligence, and resilience is what we build when we hold each other up.” The initiative marks a focused effort to prioritize the long-term well-being and stability of women working in the creative ecosystem.
